SWAT Called To West Columbus Apartment Complex After Robbery

Police took two people into custody after a standoff at a west Columbus apartment complex.

Officials said 22-year-old Jessica Jones robbed the Humphrey’s Antiques Store in the 3000 block of West Broad Street while displaying a handgun.

The robbery happened Thursday around 2:30 p.m.

The store clerk called authorities and gave authorities a detailed description.

They tracked Jones to an apartment complex near Derrer Heights Lane off of Wilson Road.

Jones surrendered and now faces robbery charges.

Authorities also discovered 22-year-old Robert Middlebrooks III barricaded inside the apartment.

He was wanted on outstanding warrants.

S.W.A.T. officials were called out to the scene and entered the apartment.

Police said Middlebrooks then went through the apartment’s attic into another unit.

Police found him hiding and he was taken into custody.

Some residents in the area were evacuated during the barricade situation.
