Suspended Columbus Police Officer Now Faces Domestic Violence Charge

A Columbus Division of Police patrol officer, who already was on suspension, is now charged with domestic violence and aggravated menacing.

According to a police spokesman, Officer Stephen Franchini is charged in connection with an incident involving his wife.

Court documents stated that Franchini threatened to harm his wife with physical violence.

Court records show that the couple has had problems in the past.

His wife filed two restraining orders against him in Franking County in 2012 and in February of this year.

It was unknown why he was suspended from the Columbus Division of Police.

On Thursday, Franchini was given bond of $2,500 and was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and not to possess and firearms.
