Suspect Stopped With 48 Bombs Appears In Madison County Court
A man who was discovered with 48 bombs in his vehicle was in court on Friday.
Andrew Scott Boguslawski, 43, is an Indiana National Guardsman who was stopped for speeding in Ohio.
Boguslawski was pulled over on Interstate 70 on January 1.
After authorities searched his vehicle, he was charged with illegally making or possessing an explosive device. Along with the bombs, four loaded guns were discovered in the vehicle.
"Based on my experience, the materials present... he had all the materials present to make improvised explosive devices," Columbus Division of Fire Bomb Squad Commander Steve Saltsman testified.
Saltsman said further testing revealed some of those devices contained potassium chloride and aluminum powder... both potentially toxic chemicals.
Also in the van, investigators discovered blueprints for the Navy Seals training facility where he works.
They are now trying to determine what -- if anything -- Boguslawski had planned, and are looking for a link to any known terrorist operations.
Boguslawski has been held on a $1 million bond and that was continued by the judge on Friday.
