State Education Employee Accused Of Taking Christmas Trip In State Car
The Ohio Inspector General has issued a report finding wrongful conduct by an Ohio Department of Education employee.
According to the Inspector General's Office, Melanie Brown, a preschool facilities inspector, was found to have skipped inspections.
Brown made reports that she had completed inspections, but officials said the investigation revealed she had not.
The state has inspected the 135 preschools that were assigned to Brown, according to the IG's Office.
The investigation also uncovered a pattern of misuse of state-owned vehicles.
The IG's Office said that in one instance, records showed that Brown was in a state-owned car and used a state-issued credit card to buy fuel in Lancaster, Pa., just days before Christmas in 2011.
