A police stand-off that began Saturday night ended in a murder-suicide.

The Hocking County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Perry County Sheriff's Office around 9 Saturday night about a possible homicide and barricade situation on the 9000 block of State Route 93 in New Straitsville.

The 47-year-old man who lived there reportedly called a friend and said he had just killed his wife.

He then said he would kill himself.

The friend contacted the Lancaster Police department, who transferred the call to the Perry County Sheriff's Office.

Both sheriff's departments responded and secured the scene.

The Logan-Hocking Special Response Team and emergency medical personnel from Hocking and Perry counties also responded.

Ohio Route 93 was shut down while authorities assessed the situation.

The road reopened around 3 a.m. Sunday.

When deputies entered the home, they found the 47-year-old man and his 49-year-old wife were both dead.

Their identities have not yet been released.
