The Red Cross is helping a southeast Columbus family find a place to stay after lightning reportedly struck their home Tuesday night.

It happened just before 10 p.m. in the 3300 block of Payday Lane.

Firefighters said the lightning struck the roof of the home and caused a fire in the attic.

Clarence Williams says the lightning struck the home close to where his grandchild was sitting.
