Members of the Franklin County DUI Task Force checked 212 vehicles during a daytime sobriety checkpoint on Saturday. Officers and deputies diverted 20 vehicles on South High Street at State Route 104 for closer scrutiny. They made two arrests for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Authorities also charged four people with possession of marijuana. Cpl. Thad Lookabaugh of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said those involved in the arrests confiscated more than 200 grams of marijuana and several packages of synthetic marijuana. One vehicle registration violation and six driver license violation citations were issued. One vehicle was impounded. Four drivers received traffic warnings. Cpl. Lookabaugh said the checkpoint between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. took the number of daytime crashes in the area over the past five years into account. Nearly five percent of them involved alcohol, Lookabaugh said. Watch 10TV News and refresh for more information.
