Sobriety Checkpoint Set For Campus Area
Law enforcement agencies across central ohio planned to crack down on drunken driving over St. Patrick's Day weekend.
The Franklin County DUI Task Force said it would operate a sobriety checkpoint in the Ohio State University campus area on Saturday.
Deputies would be looking for impaired drivers in an effort to curb drunken driving over the weekend.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said last St. Patrick's Day weekend, five out of the six traffic fatalities across the state were connected to drunk driving.
Advanced notification of the sobriety checkpoints serves as a deterrent, law enforcement officials say.
