Smoke Detected in Newark School, Classes Canceled


Newark, Ohio

Newark City Schools has canceled classes at Wilson Middle School today after smoke was detected in the building.  

According to district officials, smoke was detected in an electrical room in the school around 8:00 a.m. Thursday. 

The school was evacuated while multiple fire companies were called to the scene.  Firefighters were able to quickly contain the situation, but the building is still without power.

Parents were asked to pick up children at McGuffey Elementary.
