A Central Ohio community is trying to raise money for a child fighting a rare disease.

Daniel Vokhgelt, 11, was diagnosed with Soft Tissue Sarcoma, a rare cancer that affects about 1 in 1,000 under the age of 14.

Vokhgelt is undergoing chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital.

“They actually did shrink my tumor. Now, it’s just my brain that’s telling my foot that there is pain. That’s why I am in so much pain right now,” said Vokhgelt.

Vokhgelt says that he is determined to beat this rare form of cancer and go back to being a kid again.

Community supporters have organized a "Skate for Daniel" at the Ice Haus in Nationwide Arena this Sunday, June 8 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. There is a $10 admission and the money will help pay for Vokhgelt’s cancer treatment.
