Shoppers Scramble To Find Supplies Before Post-Christmas Snow Hits Central Ohio

This round of winter weather is coming, just as stores close down for the Christmas holiday.

Ice scrapers, shovels and salt have become coveted items as the forecast show inches of snow on the way to central Ohio the day after Christmas.

Melanie Mitchell, who works at Goodale Pro Hardware on Goodale Boulevard near Grandview Heights, said that she is dreaming of a boost in business.

“We want to move the salt, and sell the shovels,” Mitchell said.

Because last winter was so mild, the Goodale hardware store did not have to purchase additional salt this year.

Now, store officials are hoping with more winter weather, they’ll be able to get rid of their stock.

“We see our rush when the first flakes start to fall,” Mitchell said. “It’s like people have kind of learned to watch the weather a little bit. If it looks like they’re going around us, they hesitate. As it starts toward us, they’re in the door.”
