Sheriff’s Canine Helps Alert Deputy To 13 Grams Of Heroin, Drug Paraphernalia


A man was charged with possession of heroin on Saturday after a traffic stop in Athens County.

According to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, 49-year-old Allen Young, a passenger in a vehicle driving along U.S. Route 33 in Nelsonville, was arrested after deputies found 13 grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia and a weapon.

Sheriff’s officials said that the Pomeroy resident was wanted on a statewide warrant out of Wyandot County for child support and drug trafficking.

Young was charged with possession of heroin, carrying a concealed weapon and owning a weapon under disability.

He was transported to the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail.

The driver of the vehicle was released.
