Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Franklin Co Until 7:30 P.M.


A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Franklin County until 7:30 p.m.

TORNADO WATCH issued for all of Ohio until midnight. This means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms which could include tornadoes.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of central Ohio under a "Moderate Risk" for severe storms this afternoon into tonight. Strong thunderstorms are expected to develop by late afternoon, and may become severe with damaging winds possible. There is also a threat for isolated tornadoes this afternoon into tonight.

Special Information:
     A dangerous severe weather outbreak is expected across central Ohio early tonight. Storms will move into central Ohio after 5pm and become more widespread through 7pm. Damaging winds will be the primary threat. However, a few tornadoes will also be possible, especially along and west of Interstate 71. If a warning is issued, take immediate precautions as storms are expected to be moving very quickly this evening, allowing for very little advanced warning. A line of severe storms should exit central Ohio between 11pm to midnight, ending the threat for severe storms. However, strong, gusty winds will remain across the area through much of the night.
    Much calmer weather is expected on Monday with clearing skies. However it will remain quite breezy and will be cooler with afternoon temperatures falling into the 40's. Cool by dry weather is expected Tuesday into Wednesday.

Inconvenient Weather:  A severe weather outbreak is likely this evening. Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will be possible through 9pm. Wind gusts over 60 to 70mph will be possible as a line of storms cross central Ohio early this evening. Calmer, but still blustery weather will return after midnight.
