Police say a man is caught on camera serial shoplifting from at least five different locations within the past week.

He is accused of stealing thousands of dollars in unusual items from Kohl’s stores.

Police say high-end Dyson vacuum cleaners and Nike sneakers top his list.

They say the same man stole from Kohl's stores in Westerville, Pickerington, Hilliard, Grove City and the store on Olentangy River Road.

“He knows what he wants. Apparently he knows what he can get money for or trade for,” said Westerville Police Sgt. Charles Chandler.

Police say surveillance video shows the man in the stores with a variety of outfits on, but typically wearing a chain necklace and using his cell phone as he enters the store.

“He's casing out the store to find an easy exit before he goes in to steal anything,” said Chandler.

One surveillance video image from the Kohl’s on Olentangy River Road shows the man with a stack of shoe boxes in his arms.

Despite the surveillance cameras, police say the thief is able to leave the store untouched by exiting through the fire door, then getting into a truck with its engine still running.

Sgt. Chandler says he believes the high quality security cameras will help lead to the thief’s arrest.

“Well, what are they going to do on the way out if they get caught. Is it going to be guns and bullets. I mean, it's scary,” said frequent Kohl’s shopper Kathy Bowen.

The video shows two different getaway trucks.

“We always shop the Kohl’s. So it's a sad thing, you know. Tennis shoes and sweepers. What a deal. I mean, you don't have to steal. Get a job,” said Bowen.

10TV asked Kohl's for their policy on pursuing thieves out the store.

Kohl’s wouldn't directly answer the question, but did respond via email saying, "Kohl's considers all information related to loss prevention proprietary."

If you recognize the man seen in the surveillance video from the store, call the police.
