Semi Driver Seriously Injured In Morrow County Crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was investigating an injury crash involving a semi Wednesday morning.

Deputies said the crash happened around 1:15 a.m.

The Patrol said the driver of the semi, Mohamed Dhaqane Olad, 26 of Columbus, was driving a semi south on I-71 when he drove off of the left side of the road and into the median.  Olad struck the cable-rail and continued south while sliding in the mud of the median.

Troopers said Olad then struck the bulkhead between the two bridges of I-71 over County Road 22, and fell approximately 50 feet.

Olad came to a sudden stop when he struck the far embankment to a creek, which runs parallel to County Road 22. Olad was trapped in the semi for over an hour and a half.

Olad was taken to Mansfield Med Central and then flown to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was still investigating the crash, buts said it was not weather related.
