Selection To Begin Next Week For Grand Jury Investigating Steubenville Rape
Members of a grand jury will be selected next week in connection with a continuing investigation into the Steubenville rape case.
Selection for the grand jury will begin on Monday.
Two weeks after the jury is selected, evidence will be presented.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine called for the grand jury after two teens, 17-year-old Trent Mays and 16-year-old Ma'Lik Richmond, were found guilty of raping a drunken 16-year-old girl after an alcohol-fueled party last August.
Mays was sentenced to a minimum of two years in a juvenile correctional facility. Richmond was sentenced to a minimum of one year.
Both could be held until the age of 21.
DeWine said that possible charges could result from the grand jury. Failure to report a felony and tampering with evidence are two possible charges, he said.
