Roads Reopened After Downtown Columbus Water Main Break


A water main break was reported Monday afternoon in downtown Columbus.

The break occurred at North 4th and East Gay streets around 4 p.m.

Officials in the area were concerned about the water turning to ice.

A number of streets in the area surrounding the break were closed as a precaution.

Workers in nearby buildings had to be evacuated by shuttle in order to get back to their vehicles.

The broken water line was replaced around 6:00 Tuesday morning, and the roads were reopened.

Two lanes of 4th Street remained closed early Tuesday morning.
