A $5,000 reward is being offered to help solve a fire that destroyed a Hocking County church.

Investigators said that an arsonist destroyed the South Bloomingville Christian Church, located along state Route 664, on Friday morning.

The State Fire Marshal has not released the details of how the fire was set.

The pastor at the church said that he thought the church was targeted because of its support of the gay and lesbian community.

A “Stop The Hate” candlelight vigil was planned for Friday night.
