Reward Offered In Arson Investigation

The Mount Vernon Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in an arson case.

The Mount Vernon Fire Department says someone set fire to a home in the 100 block of Quarry Street. Fire crews said the home was engulfed in flames around 3:30 Tuesday morning.

The fire was put out after 45 minutes.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room. The rest of the home suffered smoke damage.

Police said no one was living inside the home at the time of the fire.
