Residents Escape Duplex Fire In Southwest Columbus

Firefighters were called to the scene of a duplex fire twice in Southwest Columbus early Monday morning.

The first fire started shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Firefighters said the fire started in the kitchen.  They put out the blaze, but were called back out after a fire ignited in the bathroom.

Everyone inside made it out safely.  One family was being helped by the Red Cross.

Neighbors described hearing a loud bang before the first fire.

Arson investigators were on the scene looking into a cause.
