Because water makes up 60 percent of our body weight, it is very important for good health. But you may not know just how beneficial drinking enough water really is.

Your Secret Weapon

Water has some outstanding benefits for women, including helping us keep a healthy weight. Drinking water:
•    Hydrates skin cells.
•    Regulates body temperature.
•    Helps your body get nutrients.
•    Flushes out waste products.

Staying Hydrated While Pregnant
•    Drinking plenty of water during pregnancy can relieve constipation, reduce cramps, and decrease fatigue.
•    If you have any of the following signs, you may not be getting enough water: dry skin, headaches, dizziness, and leg cramps.

How Much Is Enough
•    Experts generally recommend that you drink six to eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid every day.
•    Drink water before, during, and after workouts.
•    Women who are pregnant should drink about ten 8-ounce glasses of water daily.
•    Women who are breastfeeding should drink about thirteen 8-ounce glasses of water daily.
•    Your body needs more water when you are in hot climates, more active, running a fever, or having diarrhea or vomiting.

Not getting enough water
•    Carry a water bottle with you – everywhere.
•    Freeze some freezer safe water bottles for ice-cold water all day long.
•    Choose water when eating out at restaurants.
