Puppy, Cheetah Visit 10TV For Zoo Monday

A cheetah cub and puppy stopped by the 10TV studio for this week’s zoo segment.

Meesi is a 3 month old cheetah cub at the Columbus Zoo who is learning how to adapt to the new world around her.

She was born at Fossil Room Conservation Center in Texas as a single cub. Cheetahs are the only cat species that cannot and will not raise a single cub.

That’s where the Columbus Zoo came in to take care of her.

Meesi has grown up with congenital problems with her legs, and has been working with an orthopedic surgeon at Ohio State to fix them.

Despite this however, Meesi lacks the confidence to live her own life.

That’s where her best friend Cash comes in.

Cash is a 9 month old yellow lab puppy that walks with Meesi everywhere they go. Together, they wear a collar and a leash around the zoo. She will not go anywhere without him.

It is very hard to train a cheetah with a collar and a leash, but with Cash’s help the task is much easier.

The duo will continue to grow up together at the Zoo, and you can visit them at the Animal Encounters Village every day.

Be sure to check out the Columbus Zoo’s website to plan your visit.
