Prosecutor: Man Charged After Failed Delaware County Gas Station Robbery
A Delaware County man was indicted Friday after allegedly demanding money from a gas station clerk.
James T. Jones, 43, is charged with one count of aggravated robbery and one count of robbery after allegedly attempting to rob a Certified Oil Station, located at 181 E. William St. in Delaware on March 20.
Jones came to the store after visiting as a customer an hour earlier in the same clothes He returned, pulled his stocking cap over his face, demanded cash from the clerk and said he had a gun, according to the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office.
Jones fled when the clerk did not comply, and police responded to a panic alarm, the prosecutor said.
“Authorities were able to review store security footage and work with the store clerk, who later identified Jones out of a line up,” said Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O’Brien in a release Friday.
Jones’ bond was been set at $50,000.
