Problem Charter School To Be Shut Down At The End Of The Week
The Barnett Academy on Kimberly Parkway North in East Columbus will soon be shut down.
The superintendent of the school has told the sponsor that the school will be closed at the end of the day on Friday.
The schools sponsor, North Central Educational Services Center, told 10TV earlier in the week that they were considering suspending the school after hearing about growing problems at the facility.
Parents and former educators said when teachers walked off the job for not getting paid, children started teaching children in the school. The school had also lost its catering contract and was feeding children bologna sandwiches and Little Caesars Pizza.
A former administrator also said students were not supposed to play on the Fourth Floor because it was under construction, yet the school held gym and dance classes there.
10TV will have more on this story during Thursday’s newscasts and on 10TV.com.
