Probe Launched After Man Found Shot To Death In West Columbus
An investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death in west Columbus.
A passerby spotted the body of William David Keen Thursday morning near an alley along Oxley Road just south of Broad Street, near Doctor's West Hospital.
Investigators tell 10TV that Keen was a handyman who was assisting with rehab work at a home on Palmetto Street. Keen was staying at the home overnight because of the tools and equipment that was being stored at the home.
The Sheriff says it appears someone may have tried to burglarize the home and Keen may have interrupted them.
A few neighbors say they heard nothing out of the ordinary until shots were fired early this morning.
“I didn't hear (anything) other than the ‘pow! pow!’ and I didn't know what was going on until I came out to get gas up at Thorton's and I couldn't turn to get out on Ross Street,” recalls Edward Lantz.
The Sheriff says they have received a search warrant for the home and they will now go in and see what if anything may have been taken and what clues they will find in the home.
