A group called "connecting threads" is donating 12 handmade quilts to the Powell Police Department.

The Powell sewing group is working to bring comfort to children in traumatic situations.

They'll be placed in police cruisers for officers to give to anyone in need.

"It took over a year to make these because we are not on deadlines," said Connecting Threads member Daleen Dotson. "We like to work and create at our own pace. We're just a small, happy like group that likes making quilts.

The group got the idea to team up with the police department from similar efforts in Genoa Township and Athens.
