A store alarm reportedly scared away a would-be thief early Friday morning in west Columbus.

Police say a suspect threw a brick and cracked a window at a tobacco store on West Broad Street just west of Hague Avenue.

The suspect ran when the alarm inside the store went off.

Police say witnesses told them they spotted a man wearing jeans and a green coat running down an alley.

No arrests have been made.
