New details emerge following a triple shooting that claimed one man's life.

Columbus police detectives returned to the scene of the shooting Friday afternoon with flashlights, metal detectors, and cameras, in search of any evidence that may have been overlooked in the cold and snow Thursday night.

Neighbors tell 10TV they saw the gunman run away from the scene and into a nearby park after they heard shots fired on Harland Drive in South Columbus on Thursday evening.

"We heard, what we thought was firecrackers going off," said one neighbor.

10TV is not naming the man for his safety.

He says the shooting happened in a car that was just outside of his home. He says his wife dialed 911.

"Caller: 'Oh, there's somebody in the car.' Dispatch: 'There is somebody in the car?' Dispatch: 'Yes, in the passenger seat'," said the neighbor's wife to 911 dispatchers.

Police say the man, in the passenger seat, died from the shooting. They say another man and a woman were injured.

The neighbor told 10TV he heard the injured woman scream for help from across the street.

"She just hollered, 'Help me, help me. I can't move. Help me. I'm in pain' and that's when I told her, stay where you're at. I've called 911 and they'll be here in a minute," said the neighbor.

Police say the injured woman and man were taken to the hospital. The gunman took off.

"Caller: 'I know he had a gun on him too, because you could tell, you could see the smoke from the shooting'," said another neighbor to 911.

The two men, who neighbors spotted, ran off, but not before rummaging thru the car.

"They were riffling through. Look like they were looking for something," said the neighbor.

Even though the crime scene is cleaned up, the neighbor says his fear lives on.

"I was always looking out the window and checking things, every time I heard a car stop or a door open," said the neighbor. "We're kind of scared now and thinking we might look to a different place to live."

As terrifying as that shooting was, the neighbor says he now feels for the mother who just lost her son.

Columbus police say they believe this was a drug related shooting.
