Police Say Callers Report Traffic Camera Scam

Police in the Dayton area are warning about a scammer who calls residents telling them they must pay traffic camera citations or face arrest.
The Dayton Daily News reports that the caller claims to be a Dayton police officer, and has also called residents in suburban Kettering and elsewhere in Montgomery County.
Dayton police officer Aaron Fraley says the caller tells residents they were caught on camera breaking the law and must provide credit card information to pay their fine.
He says those who have reported the calls didn't provide credit card information, but he says there might be others who did. Police say the caller if caught will likely be charged with impersonating a police officer.
Dayton is among several southwest Ohio communities using cameras for traffic enforcement.
