Police Release Identity Of Man Struck, Left For Dead


Police have identified a man who was struck and left for dead Friday morning.

According to officers 54-year-old Darryl Dandridge was struck by a driver, who then fled the scene.

Dandridge was found in the middle of in the 1600 block of Arrowood Loop on the north side.

Dandridge was pronounced dead on the scene shortly before 7 a.m.

Sgt. Rich Weiner with the Columbus Division of Police said that officers determined the Dandridge’s death was likely a result of a hit-skip crash.

“We have no witnesses to the accident itself, and we have no description of the vehicle,” Weiner said.

Resident John Carry said that he woke up Friday to find a commotion outside of his door.

“I have seen a lot of officers out here,” Carry said. “There were six or seven squad cars.”

Police and neighbors want to know who is responsible for the Dandridge’s death.

“It’s sad, but it’s not really surprising in this day and age in which we live,” Carry said.
