Police: Man Wanted For Robbing Bank Punched, Bit Officer During Arrest

A man wanted on bank robbery charges is now accused of assault on a police officer and two drug-related charges.

According to court documents, officers observed Joseph M. Miller make a hand-to-hand drug deal and then place a plastic bag in his front pocket.

Miller then fled from officers and was apprehended a short time later.

Miller allegedly resisted arrest, punched two officers in the chest and bit one officer in the right arm. He also tried to break an officer's finger, court documents stated.

Police said that Miller had 5.5 grams of cocaine and 13.6 grams of heroin in his possession.

Miller was wanted out of a Monday bank robbery at a US Bank, located at 4200 Shoppers Lane.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Miller also robbed the Huntington Bank, located at 4550 E. Broad St. in Whitehall, on Tuesday.

A detective requested a high bond because he said Miller was preparing to leave the city to go to Atlanta, Ga.
