Police Issue Warrant For Teen Girl In Connection With Delaware County Playground Shooting

Delaware police said they were searching for a girl in connection with a Thursday evening shooting near Woodward Elementary School.

Police arrested 18-year-old Joshua Mosley Jr. and charged him with felonious assault in connection with the shooting, which occurred at about 8 p.m.

Police said that Darrell Ginyard, 19, was shot. Ginyard was flown to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. Officials have not released his condition at this time.

On Friday afternoon, police announced that they were searching for 17-year-old Chante N. Durr. Durr was last seen in the area of the elementary school and is thought to possibly be in Columbus.

The girl is described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 187 pounds. She is charged with complicity to felonious assault.

Police also said that they believe the gun used in the shooting was discarded in the area near the school. Officers conducted a search but were unable to find it.

Police had an increased presence in the area around the school Friday morning.  Parents were emailed a letter Thursday night alerting them of the situation.

“None of my kids wanted to come to school this morning. All of them were scared. My kindergartner, it was like dropping her off on the first day of kindergarten, all over again. She was really clingy - she didn't want to go, but I told her it was safe,” said parent Rebecca Parker.

Ohio Wesleyan University also sent out an alert to students Thursday night after the shooting telling them to remain inside.

Officials said they are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area to try and determine the events that led to the shooting.

Anyone who knows anything about the shooting is asked to call the Delaware Police Department at 740-203-1111.
