Police said three people of interest were questioned following a fatal shooting on the 200 block of North 18th Street.

Rickey Garrison, 24, was killed after being shot in the chest multiple times around 1:45 a.m.

Garrison, who was said to have been visiting the house at the time of the shooting, was pronounced dead after being transported to Grant Medical Center.

The three individuals that were questioned were in the home when someone opened fire early Thursday morning.

Authorities said two of the people were released, but a woman was arrested for allegedly interfering with an emergency scene and resisting arrest.

According to Garrison’s father, Rickey Warner, who came to the scene of the shooting when he learned of his son’s death, his son was staying at his cousin’s home when the shooting occurred.

Warner said that he had warned his son about hanging around with the wrong people.

“My son is a big guy,” Warner. “I just dreaded this day was going to come.”

Investigators said they do not have a suspect in the shooting.

“We have no witnesses,” Columbus Det. Dana Norman.

Police said that four children were inside of the home at the time, but they did not see the shooting.

The children are ages 1, 3, 7, and 10-years-old. They were all upstairs when the shooting took place on the first floor.

Investigators were working to determine a motive for the shooting.
