Police identify body found in Scioto River near downtown Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus police have identified a body found in the Scioto River near Dublin Road last week.

Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Corey Kemmerling.

A fisherman spotted what he believed to be a body in the river around 7 p.m. on May 19. The Columbus Division of Police Dive Team located the body just after 8:30 p.m.

Police said the body was found east of where it was spotted along the north bank of the Scioto River just west of Souder Avenue.

Police said there were no signs of acute trauma and the case is being treated as an accidental drowning at this time.
