Police released new information Friday about a teenager who was shot and killed after allegedly breaking into a home.

Authorities said that 17-year-old Richard “Ricky” J. Mitchell was shot to death during what police say was a burglary along Stonecastle Drive on Dec. 12.

One neighbor, who requested anonymity, said that she ran outside when she heard the gunshots.

“There was two that ran this way. They hopped in the car. The other boy collapsed when I was there,” she said.

She was emotional Wednesday as she talked about the 17-year-old burglary suspect who she said died in her arms. Mitchell was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities were working to receive a more detailed account of what happened from the tenant. Police said the tenant wasn't hurt, nor was anything stolen from him.

They're not releasing his name, since he wasn't charged

Police were continuing to search for two other people who were with Mitchell at the time of the break-in attempt.
