Police: Girls Fabricated Story About Being Approached In Park

Investigators said on Wednesday that a group of eight girls lied about being approached by a suspicious man in a Westerville-area park.

According to police, the girls reported that a man dressed in all black followed them on Friday near a park at the corner of Lynbrook Lane and Willow Bend Way. They said that the man was in an older model, burgundy vehicle.

Officers said that upon investigation, they found that the girls fabricated the story to avoid getting in trouble for playing "Ding-Dong Ditch."

Because of the serious allegations, officers said that the case would be forwarded to the Delaware County Juvenile Prosecutor's Office to review for charges.
