Police Chase Through Hilliard Reaches Speeds Of 100 MPH
A high-speed chase through Hilliard ends in a crash.
The chase started along Cemetery Road in Hilliard when the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Derik Woodruff, drove by an officer at a high rate of speed.
When authorities attempted to stop him, he took off.
Several law enforcement agencies followed in pursuit.
Woodruff's vehicle reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour.
The pursuit lasted 30 minutes, going through several side streets, down Hilliard-Rome Road, to I-70 eastbound.
Spikes were used to blow out the suspect’s tires.
The chase ended with the car crashing and stopping in a ditch on Feder Road at Cape Charles Drive.
Police were able to take the suspect into custody where he will face several charges.
Police indicated the man may have thrown something from his car window during the chase.
Police are still going through all of the details.
No one was hurt during the pursuit.
Woodruff is charged with felony fleeing and eluding.
