Police busted a window in a van to free two children in west Columbus Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities were called around 1 p.m. after the toddlers were spotted in the van in Westpointe Shopping Plaza off of Hilliard Rome Road.

When police could not locate the mother, they broke the van window to get the two kids out. Authorities said they were hot, covered in sweat, and appeared to be in distress.

She told authorities that she only expected to be in the store a minute but had to stand in a line.

The woman was cited for Endangering a Child. Police allowed the kids to remain with their parents.
