Police Believe Child Enticement Cases Are Connected

Investigators in two central Ohio counties believe the same man may be trying to lure children into his car.

Earlier this week, 10TV News reported an incident in Delaware County.

Now, a second case has been reported in Marion. A man tried to lure a 9-year-old girl in Marion City.

“I’m scared to death. I don’t want her to go missing.” said Edith Parsons, the mother of Devon Newsom, 9.

On Wednesday, Devon said that she got off the school bus on Fairview Street when a man in a tan SUV caught her attention.

“Stopped right there at the driveway and then he slowly crept up watching me,” said Newsom.

She quickly ran home and told her mom that a man was following her.

About 30 minutes later, Devon went back outside and saw the tan SUV again.

“He was on the main road and I went over there to get the mail and then he got out of his car yelled ‘Get in the car now.’” Devon said.

She added that he tried to run after her, but she got away.

Delaware city police say a man driving a similar vehicle tried to abduct a seven year old girl in Delaware last week.

Now police are stepping up patrols in both areas.
Police say in both cases the male suspect has a crew cut.

So far there have been no arrests.
