Columbus police said a 4-year-old shot a 7-year-old at a home in the 300 block E. Morrill Avenue Friday night.

Neighbors say the family was holding a get-together at a grandparent's house at the time of the shooting.

Police say the grandfather is an avid gun collector.

They say around 7:30 pm, a 4-year-old boy got ahold of one of the guns and accidentally shot the 7-year-old boy in his arm.

Neighbors said they didn't hear the gunfire, but were shocked to hear of the shooting.

"I saw the little kid, while they put him on the emergency vehicle," said Julian Bregasi.  "So far, all I know is that he's ok. This is kind of sad to hear something like that. They should have protection about the guns they keep in the house and all that, but I hope he's going to be ok."

The shooting victim was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

Police are interviewing witnesses to determine whether anyone will be charged.
