Home furnishing giant Pier 1 Imports has announced it will open an e-commerce fulfillment center in Grove City.

Pier 1 President & CEO Alex W. Smith says the move comes in response to the early success of its omnichannel strategy.  “The Columbus Region’s exceptional distribution and logistics capabilities and outstanding talent pool, as well as its optimal location for e-commerce business, were all factors that led us to expand our Grove City operations,” Smith said in a press release.

The company says it plans to upgrade its 195,000 square-foot distribution space in Grove City in response to the expansion.   The move will bring more than 150 new jobs to the area, in addition to its current 100 employees.  The new openings include warehouse associate and management positions.

Grove City Mayor Ike Stage says he’s thrilled with the expansion.  “We’re always pleased when an existing company experiences success, because that means we can look forward to a long-lasting relationship. Pier 1 Imports is a great example.”

Hiring for the new positions will begin this summer.
