Phone Scam Targets Guests At Hyatt Hotel
People staying at the Hyatt Place at Grandview Yard say they awoke to a phone call claiming to be from the front desk.
The person on the other end of the line said the storm knocked out their computer systems. They then asked for an address and credit card numbers.
"He was referencing the storm. He was a man. He sounded very convincing. He was very polite at first, but when I wouldn't give him the information at first, he got really aggressive which was the red flag in my head that something was weird," said Stephanie Carpetto, a hotel guest.
The hotel says this has never happened at that location but that this is a common tactic scammers will try.
Remember, you should never give out personal information over the phone, even when staying at a hotel.
