Person Of Interest Taken Into Custody After Store Clerk Shot


A store clerk was shot in the leg Friday afternoon in southeast Columbus.

The shooting happened outside the Courtright Market on Courtright Road just after 4:30 p.m.

Police said a group of people were reportedly fighting in the parking lot.  

One person fired a weapon, hitting the clerk.  

Police said the victim, 20-year-old Ahmad Suliman, was not involved in the fight.

Suliman told investigators he believed he was shot for breaking up the fight.

He was transported to the Grand Medical Center and is expected to be okay.  

One unidentified person was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.

No charges were immediately filed.
