Police are trying to figure out if a man suspected of breaking into a business near Riverside Methodist Hospital targeted others.

Police arrested a man, identified as Matthew Allen Taylor, shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday in the 3600 block of Olentangy River Road.

Officers said that the man broke into a business and stole computers and other electronics. They said that the man broke into eight to 10 businesses in the building.

The man was found by officers walking down a street in the area.

Jon Cope said that his building was the one broken into. He said that the thief pried open a window and ransacked the building.

“I built it in 1985, and I have been here since then, and we have not had a break-in,” Cope said.

Police said an alert citizen called 911 after seeing what he thought was a suspicious car parked off of Olentangy River Road.

Investigators said that they thought Taylor rented a car to commit the break-in.

“I certainly live a life where you respect the privacy and property of others, but there are an awful lot of people who don’t,” Cope said.

Taylor faces felony breaking and entering charges and was being held at the Franklin County Jail.
