Minority leader Nancy Pelosi released a statement saying Confederate statues should be removed from the U.S. Capitol.

A statue of Thomas Edison represents Ohio in the halls of Congress. It replaced a statue of a former Ohio governor last year.

In 2012, the Ohio General Assembly voted to replace the statue of former Ohio Governor William Allen. Allen supported slavery and criticized Abraham Lincoln.

The statue of Thomas Edison was unveiled in 2015 and installed at the U.S. Capitol in 2016.
