Parent Shoots Parent After Fight Over Dating Curfew
A Columbus man and his son are accused of shooting the stepfather of the son's girlfriend.
Sammy Lee Strickland, Jr. and his 20-year-old son, Sammy Lee Strickland, III, are both charged with Felonious Assault.
The shooting occurred after an argument about the curfew for the younger Strickland's girlfriend.
According to court documents, Strickland, III, got into an argument with the stepfather of his girlfriend after returning from a date around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18.
The younger Strickland went to get his father and the two returned to the house on Stone Ridge Drive on the east side of Columbus about 15 minutes later.
The victim says Strickland Jr. jumped out of the passenger seat and shot him in the leg with a .22 rifle.
Police arrested Strickland Jr. and Strickland III at the scene.
