Outlet Mall Issue Passes In Delaware County

The Simon-Tanger outlet mall levy won by 25 votes.

10TV has learned that construction could begin next spring with a grand opening in the summer of 2015.

Trustee Rod Myers opposed the mall, but he told 10TV that the fight is over.

Myers was reelected despite leading the opposition to the referendum.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the mall’s plan proposed 1,000 acres of stores, warehouses and hotels, an auto mall and a recreation complex.

The next steps will be working on site architecture and design concepts.

Tanger Outlet Centers spokesman Quinten Pell says that they hope to blend with the rural character of the area, while also helping to ensure sensitivity to traffic flow and the area’s environmental need.
