Only Witness To See Woman's Abduction Discusses Ordeal

The man who is believed to be the only witness to a woman's abduction told 10TV News on Friday that he tried to help her before he was pepper-sprayed in the face.

Joey Leake told 10TV's Kevin Landers that he was walking in an alley near Century National Bank on March 22 when he heard a woman scream.

Summer Inman was dragged into a car outside the bank where she worked.  Her estranged husband and his parents are accused of the crime.

Leake said that he heard a stun gun go off before he was pepper-sprayed.

Despite him being blinded, Leake provided police with enough detail of the crime to help detectives with a description of the car and how Inman, a 25-year-old mother of three, was subdued.

Leake said that he ran from the scene.  Another woman found him and called 911.

Inman's estranged husband, William A. Inman II, 26, and his parents -- 47-year-old William A. Inman and his 46-year-old wife, Sandra - were charged with her kidnapping. No charges have been filed in her death.

Summer Inman's body was found on Tuesday night in an underground septic tank behind the Faith Tabernacle Church near Nelsonville.  According to an affidavit released Thursday, plastic zip-ties, similar to "quick handcuffs" used by police, were on her body.

Leake said that he was not able to see because of the pepper spray.  When he returned to work, he was fired.

He said that he wished he could have done more for Summer Inman but was also fearful he would have also been kidnapped.
