Only 1/3 Of Dogs Brought To Shelter After July 4th Have Been Claimed

More than 90 dogs have brought to the Franklin County Dog Shelter this year after July 4th weekend.

Officials say fireworks and other holiday explosives are to blame for this increase in lost dogs.

About 2/3 of the dogs at the shelter are still waiting for their owners to reclaim them. However, the shelter is getting crowded.

Dogs that have not been claimed are being evaluated by staff for possible adoption. They will go up for adoption as early as Tuesday.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, all dogs six months and older are currently half price.

If you are missing a dog, the Franklin County Dog Shelter asks you visit their shelter at 4340 Tamarack Blvd. or call 614-525-DOGS (3647) as soon as possible.
