The Ohio State Highway Patrol was investigating a fatal crash in Knox County.

Troopers said the crash happened Monday at 5:35 p.m. on US-36 near milepost 14.

47-year-old James Kesman was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on US-36 when he tried to pass a 2008 Jeep Laredo that was making a left turn. The two vehicles collided and Kesman was thrown from his motorcycle.

Kesman was pronounced dead at the scene by Mount Vernon EMS. The driver of the Jeep was taken to Knox Community Hospital with minor injuries.

Troopers say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The Mount Gilead Patrol Post is still investigating the crash.
